I had one case where my demo system was in Amazon Cloud EC2 environment and I needed a FTP service as soon as possible. I know that there is IIS FTP opportunity but I didn't have IIS installed on my server and it would have been taken too much time to setup. So I thought that Open Source FileZilla Server would solve my problem.
But it wasn't that easy. If I just installed the FileZilla Server and the opened FTP port from EC2 firewall i could not use the FTP from other computer even it worked locally on my server.

I didn't get file list from remote client and FTP does not worked.
I used elactic IP to EC2 environment I searched this problem from Google.
I found out some forum that I need to setup passive mode settings from server settings
You can use any port range that you have available. In opened this port range from Amazon firewall and then FTP started working.
